Tarot Tuesday 3/28/23

Oh, hi there. Remember me? The person who sometimes writes about finding joy on this blog?

Yeah… it’s been a while. The truth is, I’ve been prioritizing other things lately with trying to get my freelance writing career started, working part time at the old day job, and getting settled in our new house. I’m not going to come in here with any shiny promises about returning to consistency, because as much as I love this blog, it’s often the first thing to set aside when life gets busy.

But I’m here now, feeling called to write a Tarot Tuesday post for today. Tarot Tuesday is where I pull a card (or, really, reflect on the card that I pull for my weekly newsletter, Amanda Reads). There’s a mini reading and some journaling prompts to help us reflect on the card together.

I’ve acquired quite a few new tarot decks recently, after being content with my collection for quite some time. It’s fun to see new cards speaking to me again, but I want to make sure I’m actually using and connecting with the decks. These weekly card pulls are a fun way to explore the different decks. This week’s pull comes from the Biddy Tarot deck, my newest addition.

Tarot Card of the Week: Queen of Swords

Message of the Week (From Amanda Reads)

This week, the Biddy Tarot offers us up a reminder about holding true to our boundaries and standing in our power.

As we in the Northern Hemisphere head into spring and life takes on a faster pace, it can be easy to let go of habits we nurtured in the slower winter months. Take time to remind yourself of any boundaries or practices you need to maintain, and remember that you have the strength to do so.

Journal Prompts for the Queen of Swords

  1. What boundaries could use revisiting and restrengthening in your life? Where have you let people cross boundaries?
  2. When you think of boundaries, what comes to mind? Do they feel supportive, or scary? Why might that be?
  3. What are your strengths? Where are you able to ground easily into your power and take up space?

Final Thoughts

The Queen of Swords is sort of the feminine version of big sword energy, if you know what I mean. It can be hard to stand firm in our needs and still feel like we’re being kind and caring towards others, but it is possible to compassionately maintain your boundaries. You deserve to have your needs met as much as anyone else, and it’s important to stand up for what you need. But, that doesn’t mean you have to slash and hack your way through others to get there. Like so many things, there’s a balance you can cultivate here.

This card is a difficult one for me personally. Queen of Swords energy doesn’t come naturally to me, a people pleasing Ohioan girl at heart. But I think she’s got some valuable lessons for us to keep in mind about trusting in ourselves and our abilities. Let’s channel a little of those vibes this week, shall we?
