Happy Friday, my friends! This week has been busy, which is probably how I’ll be starting these weekly check in posts from now until November. Nevertheless, I built in some time for self-care where I could. Let’s check in on the week in self-care!
The Week in Joyful Movement
My half marathon is just weeks away, and I’m starting to feel the pressure. As much as I know I’ve run this distance before, it’s hard to feel ready for my first in-person half.
Training went fairly well this week, with the exception of my taking a tumble during yesterday morning’s run. I haven’t re-adjusted to running in the dark and was too busy enjoying the feel of light rain on my face to realize I’d reached one of the missing chunks of sidewalks. Cue, me falling down. Thankfully, I fell on my knee-brace covered knee, so I just bruised it a bit.

On Tuesday, I hit up a studio yoga class with a colleague, and it felt so great to lie on my mat and let the stress of the workday flow out. I wish I could go lie in a hot room for 10 minutes after work every day, to be honest.
The Rest of the Week
I haven’t done the best job with other self-care aside from staying active this week. There is so much on my plate at work that I’m finding it hard to shut off work brain when I get home. I’m also entering into period/pain flare combo mode, so I’m emotional and irritable.
I couldn’t even really tell you what I did this week outside of work, besides the yoga class on Tuesday. I’ve gone to bed early most evenings, telling myself I was going to read my book, then fully just going to sleep. My body needs the extra rest during these periods of pain, so I’m okay with it.

This weekend is less busy than last, so I’ll be baking some bread, prepping for the work week ahead, and running a 10K on Sunday.
That’s it for me this week. In all, not the best week, but that’s perfectly to be expected given my body’s whole deal.
